These are impressions, images for whose truthfulness no evidence can be found, so ephemeral are they – flashing up for no more than a moment. Marko Zink’s analogue photographs seem to provide this evidence; it seems as though the photographer had found a way to capture even the most fleeting among these moments, the samellest unit of time. Zink fixes the light in the pictures, or we might say, he records time itself in the photosensitive material. An ephemeral moment becomes manifest and takes shape, unfolds, opens like a little pocket. But Marko Zink’s photographs are not “truthful”, they stage the quality of those fleeting moments, of a time that is hardly probable, that is only vaguely possible.
